A quick and easy Halloween popcorn mix with candy corn, pretzels, and white chocolate that comes together in under 15 minutes. Perfect for weeknights, parties, or movie nights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 cups popped popcorn (about 1/2 cup unpopped kernels or one 3-ounce bag of microwave popcorn)
  • 1 cup candy corn
  • 1 cup pretzel sticks, broken into 1-inch pieces
  • 1/2 cup roasted salted peanuts
  • 8 ounces white chocolate melting wafers or white chocolate chips
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt (plus a pinch for the chocolate)
  • 1/2 cup candy pumpkins or seasonal M&M’s (optional, for color)

Instructions

  1. Pop the popcorn (5 minutes): If using an air popper, run it until you have about 8 cups of popcorn. If using microwave popcorn, pop one bag according to package directions, then open and let cool for 2 minutes. Remove any unpopped kernels. The popcorn should be warm but not hot.
  2. Prepare your work station (2 minutes): Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat. Measure out candy corn, pretzel pieces, and peanuts into separate small bowls.
  3. Melt the white chocolate (3 minutes): Place white chocolate wafers or chips in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave at 50% power for 30 seconds, then stir. Repeat in 30-second intervals until smooth and fully melted (about 2-3 minutes total). If too thick, stir in 1 teaspoon of coconut oil or vegetable shortening.
  4. Season the chocolate (30 seconds): Stir in a pinch of salt (about 1/8 teaspoon) into the melted white chocolate.
  5. Combine the dry ingredients (2 minutes): In a large mixing bowl, combine warm popcorn, candy corn, pretzel pieces, and peanuts. Toss gently to distribute evenly.
  6. Add the chocolate (3 minutes): Pour melted white chocolate over the popcorn mixture. Fold and toss with a spatula until every piece is lightly coated. Work quickly but gently.
  7. Spread and set (10 minutes): Transfer coated mixture to prepared baking sheet. Spread into an even layer, breaking up large clusters. Let sit at room temperature for about 10 minutes, or until chocolate is firm. For faster setting, refrigerate for 5 minutes.
  8. Add optional decorations (2 minutes): If using candy pumpkins or seasonal M&M’s, sprinkle over the top and gently press into still-soft chocolate.
  9. Break into pieces (1 minute): Once chocolate is fully set, break mixture into bite-sized clusters. Transfer to a serving bowl or store in an airtight container.

Notes

Don’t skip the salt—it balances the sweetness. Work with warm popcorn for better chocolate adhesion. Avoid overmixing to prevent crushing the popcorn. Let the mix set completely before storing to avoid clumping. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days. For a dairy-free version, use dairy-free white chocolate chips. For a nut-free version, omit peanuts or replace with pumpkin seeds.
