These crispy wontons are filled with spicy buffalo chicken dip and topped with a tangy blue cheese drizzle, perfect for quick snacks or parties.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup buffalo chicken dip (homemade or store-bought)
  • 24 wonton wrappers (about 3.5-inch squares)
  • 1/4 cup crumbled blue cheese
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon milk or buttermilk
  • 2 cups olive oil or neutral oil (vegetable or peanut oil) for frying
  • Fresh chives or green onions, finely chopped (optional garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Blue Cheese Drizzle: In a medium bowl, combine crumbled blue cheese, mayonnaise, sour cream, and milk. Whisk until smooth but slightly chunky. Adjust milk for pourable consistency. Chill in fridge.
  2. Fill the Wontons: Place a wonton wrapper flat on a clean surface. Spoon about 1 teaspoon of buffalo chicken dip into the center. Avoid overfilling.
  3. Seal the Wontons: Moisten edges with water. Fold wrapper diagonally to form a triangle and press edges firmly to seal. Crimp edges with a fork if desired. Repeat for all wrappers.
  4. Heat the Oil: Pour oil into a skillet to about 1 inch depth. Heat over medium-high to 350°F (175°C) or until a wonton sizzles on contact.
  5. Fry the Wontons: Fry in batches, turning frequently with tongs until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per batch. Avoid overcrowding.
  6. Drain and Cool: Remove wontons with slotted spoon and place on paper towels to drain excess oil. Let cool for 1-2 minutes.
  7. Serve: Arrange wontons on a platter, drizzle with blue cheese sauce, and sprinkle with chopped chives or green onions.

Notes

Keep the buffalo chicken dip chilled before filling to prevent leaking. Do not overfill wontons. Fry in batches to maintain oil temperature. For a lighter version, bake at 400°F for 12-15 minutes, flipping halfway. Store leftovers in airtight container in fridge up to 2 days and reheat in oven at 375°F for 8-10 minutes.
