A quick and fun Halloween snack featuring hot dogs wrapped in crescent roll dough to look like mummies, served with a tangy Dijon dipping sauce. Perfect for last-minute parties and loved by kids and adults alike.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 regular-sized hot dogs (beef, turkey, or your favorite brand)
  • 1 can (8 oz or about 226 g) crescent roll dough, refrigerated
  • 4 slices American or cheddar cheese, cut into thin strips
  • Black sesame seeds or mini chocolate chips for eyes (optional)
  • For the Dijon Dipping Sauce:
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons (30 g) Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon (1 g) garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Open the can of crescent roll dough and unroll it onto a clean surface. Cut the dough lengthwise into thin 1/4-inch (6 mm) strips.
  3. Cut cheese slices into thin strips about the same width as the dough.
  4. Place a few cheese strips lengthwise on each hot dog. Wrap the dough strips around the hot dog, leaving a small gap near one end for the ‘face’. Overlap the dough slightly to resemble bandages.
  5. Place two black sesame seeds or mini chocolate chips near the open end to create ‘eyes’. Press gently to stick.
  6. Place the wrapped hot dogs on the baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes or until the dough is golden brown and crispy.
  7. While baking, whisk together mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, honey, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a small bowl to make the dipping sauce.
  8. Serve the mummy hot dogs warm with the Dijon dipping sauce on the side.

Notes

If dough tears during wrapping, pinch it back together or patch with extra dough. For extra crispiness, broil for 1-2 minutes watching closely. Dipping sauce can be made ahead and refrigerated. Use gluten-free dough and hot dogs for gluten-free version. Avoid microwaving leftovers to keep dough crispy.
