A budget-friendly, sweet, and spiced sangria made with simple ingredients like cheap white wine, apple cider, caramel syrup, and cinnamon sticks. Perfect for fall gatherings or a cozy night in.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 bottle (750 ml) dry white wine (e.g., Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc)
  • 1 cup apple cider
  • 1/2 cup caramel syrup
  • 1/4 cup brandy or bourbon (optional)
  • 2 large apples (mix of sweet and tart, e.g., Honeycrisp and Granny Smith)
  • 3–4 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 lemon (juice and peel)
  • Extra apple slices and cinnamon sticks for garnish (optional)
  • Ice cubes (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Wash apples, cut in half, remove cores, and slice into thin wedges or rounds (about 1/4-inch thick). Toss with a squeeze of lemon juice to prevent browning.
  2. In a large pitcher, combine apple cider, caramel syrup, and lemon juice. Stir until caramel is dissolved. Add brandy or bourbon if using.
  3. Pour in the entire bottle of white wine. Add cinnamon sticks and lemon peel (yellow part only). Stir gently.
  4. Add apple slices and stir gently once more.
  5. Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least 4-6 hours, or overnight for best flavor.
  6. When ready to serve, stir gently. Fill individual glasses with ice cubes, pour sangria over ice, and garnish with apple slices and a cinnamon stick if desired.

Notes

For best flavor, let the sangria chill for at least 4-6 hours. Do not let it sit for more than 24 hours to avoid mushy apples. If using a particularly dry wine, add an extra tablespoon of caramel syrup. For a non-alcoholic version, substitute wine with non-alcoholic white wine or sparkling apple cider.
