Juicy, flavorful, and easy slow cooker BBQ pulled chicken sliders perfect for parties, quick dinners, or casual get-togethers. The chicken is tender and saucy, paired with soft slider buns for the ultimate handheld comfort food.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 2 lbs / 900 g)
  • 1 cup (240 ml) barbecue sauce (recommend Sweet Baby Ray’s)
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) chicken broth or water
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 12 slider buns (soft, small buns; Hawaiian rolls recommended)
  • Optional: coleslaw (store-bought or homemade)
  • Optional: pickles or sliced jalapeños

Instructions

  1. Prepare the sauce: In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup barbecue sauce, 1/4 cup chicken broth, 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar, 1 teaspoon smoked paprika, 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder, 1/2 teaspoon onion powder, and salt and pepper. Whisk until smooth and set aside.
  2. Place 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts in the slow cooker. Pour the prepared sauce evenly over the chicken, coating each piece.
  3. Cover and cook on low for 3 to 4 hours, or until the chicken is tender and shreds easily. Check at 3 hours and cook longer if needed.
  4. Using two forks or tongs, shred the chicken directly in the slow cooker and mix well with the sauce. If too wet, uncover and cook on high for 15-20 minutes to thicken.
  5. Optional: Slice and toast the slider buns lightly on a baking sheet or grill pan.
  6. Assemble sliders by spooning pulled chicken onto buns and topping with optional coleslaw, pickles, or jalapeños.
  7. Serve warm immediately.

Notes

If slow cooker runs hot, check chicken earlier to prevent drying. Adjust vinegar or barbecue sauce to balance tanginess and sweetness. Toast buns to prevent sogginess. Leftovers reheat well with a splash of broth or water to maintain moisture.
